Discover our Columbus Knights teams! We are an American Legion baseball organization based in Columbus, Ohio. Learn about our dedicated teams and what makes each of them special.

13u team

Our 13U team is focused on skill development and teamwork. We pride ourselves on fostering a positive and competitive environment where young players can grow and excel. This team is a crucial steppingstone in the organization, as the development starts here.

This team is coached by Robert Gibson. Coach Gibson has been coaching baseball for a number of years. He does have a player on the team; however, he strongly believes in a fair opportunity for every player as well as equal development.

14/15u team

Our 14/15U is dedicated to exceptional teamwork and respect for the game. We are very proud of their commitment to continuous improvement and their ability to overcome challenges together. They consistently demonstrate sportsmanship and a strong work ethic, making them a team to watch.

This team is Co-Coached by Scott Cottrill and Andy Gersbach. These gentlemen have many years of coaching experience under their belt.  They expect their players to listen and learn from their coaching abilities. 

16/17u team

The 16/17U team is organized to provide advanced training and competitive opportunities for high school-aged players. This group is our Jr. Legion Team. They will play in a variety of tournaments throughout the summer, including the Regional & State American Legion Tournaments in Mid July. This team focuses on refining skills, developing leadership qualities, and preparing players for potential collegiate careers. The team is structured to maximize individual growth within a team-oriented setting.

This team is coached by Joseph Vandergriff. Coach Vandergriff is new to the Knights this year. He is also our Strength & Conditioning Coach. He believes in hard work and dedication to their craft. 

18/19u team

This team is the culmination of the hard work the players have put in over the years. They are the Senior Legion team and represent our sponsoring Post 532 and organization at many different tournaments around the state. The culmination to the season starts in mid-July as they compete in the Regional, then State and hopefully the Great Lakes then American Legion World Series which is held in Shelby, NC and is usually televised on ESPN. They compete at a very high level. Many of these young men are going on to play in college. Some of these players are actually returning to the organization to finish out their youth baseball careers even after finishing their 1st year of College Baseball. 

This team is coached by Head Coach/Owner of the organization Fred Valentine. Coach Valentine has been coaching baseball for the last 10 years. He is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Coach Valentine and his wife Susie, have dedicated their time and efforts to this organization for a # of years, to make sure that young men of all skill levels have the opportunity to improve their skill and passion for the game that we all love.
